You need to know why you write. One of the things I've learned from a year of interviews is that authors write for very different reasons. What matters is knowing why you do.

Show Notes:42. Chase Replogle — I Write to Keep From Getting Robbed

There is a famous line from Flannery O’Connor: “I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.”

It’s often quoted by other writers for why they write. I don’t think that is a question we take seriously enough. Why do you write? You need to figure out an answer to that question. And surprisingly, great authors often give very different answers.

In this episode, I explore coming to terms with my own reason for writing. I hope it helps you find yours.
